Homemade Scrubs for your Face and Body
Ever feel like you wish you could just erase the bad parts from your day? Well your skin feels the same way, which is why it craves the benefits of exfoliation on a daily basis. You spend time in polluted air, you touch your face after you ride the grimy subway, you try on clothes that hundreds of other people have also tried on, and you test a new (and not very good) skin cream while you’re window shopping-give you skin a break already!
Face and body scrubs don’t need to come in expensive jars with fancy labels on them. You can make a quality scrub using ingredients from your kitchen cabinets. It’s easy, affordable, and a great way to get clear skin every day.
Here are some examples. You can adjust the amounts to make them more or less scrubby or smooth:
Sweet and Sugary Body Scrub
8 cups of raw or light brown sugar
2 cups of untoasted sesame oil
½ cup of peach kernel oil
vanilla essential oil
¼ cup of honey
Salty Rum Body Scrub
6 cups of sea salt
1 cup of honey
¼ cup of olive oil
¼ cup of coconut run
Youthful Almond Lotion Face Scrub
1 tbsp of Knockout Wrinkles or another anti-wrinkle cream
1 tbsp of honey
2 tbsp of ground almonds
(You can make a batch of this and keep it in your fridge.)
Good Morning Face!
¼ cups of leftover coffee grounds
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 egg
Gentle Acne Facial Scrub
1 cup of oatmeal
¼ cup of warm water
1 tsp. of baking soda
You can use any of these scrubs in conjunction with your regular skin care regimen. For acne-ridden skin, follow the gentle acne scrub with Retin-A. For other treatment, follow with a light moisturizer like Knockout Wrinkles. Your skin will look better, feel better, and stay smoother for longer!
