Caring For Your Feet
For most of us, our feet will carry us, until our last days but so few of us actually consider taking special care of this very important body part. After all, who’s looking at your feet? Well for starters, there are some people who have a thing for feet, but that’s besides the point! Adding some foot care into your regimen, starting now, will give your footsies the extra pampering they need as you get ready to reveal them this coming summer. Here’s how to get started: begin by massaging your feet each night with coconut oil, to help relax them and keeps them soft and supple. For next winter, switch to warm sesame oil with mustard oil for a toasty treat. If you love walking barefoot, you probably noticed that rough surfaces or lots of exposure of bare feet to the sun, wind or water causes cracks on the heels and soles, which cause dryness and roughness of the feet. To treat this, take about three tsp of honey and mix one tsp of sesame oil in it, warm and apply to the affected areas of your feet. Here’s an all natural cleanser I love that’s terrific for your feet because of its natural moisturizing and antibacterial qualities: wet your feet and apply 1 tbsp organic clover honey to a warm, wet washcloth. Rub your entire foot thoroughly, being sure to get between all toes and around toenails. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Afterwards, consider a foot soak, which is an excellent way to care for the skin as well as add to your general well being. Soaks soften dry skin and energize tired feet. After soaking, moisturize with a good moisturizer. Here’s one of my favorite foot soaks after a long summer day: 4 cups warm milk, 2 tablespoons Epsom Salt, 2 tablespoons almond oil and 3 drops mint essential oil added to a warm water foot bath. Soak feet for 15-20 minutes.
