Home-made Antioxidant Cream
I’m sure you’ve noticed already how popular antioxidants have become in wrinkle cream these days (despite the fact that the jury is still out on whether or not antioxidants actually prevent aging but that’s a different story). The big antioxidants: vitamins C, E and A are all over the place these days and for good reason: antioxidants are molecules capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules which means, in layman’s terms, it prevents the damage caused by oxygen to bodily tissues, including the skin. Oxidation reactions can produce free radical damage, which start chain reactions that damage cells and antioxidants terminate the chain reactions by removing free radical intermediates, and inhibit other oxidation reactions by being oxidized themselves.
So why all this talk about antioxidants here? Well, if you’ve noticed the products you’ve probably also seen the prices. Most of them are sky high, and it may be a waste of money but the benefits of these guys are amazing for the skin. But you see, the moment antioxidants are mixed in with water, like in cosmetics, they become less stable and possibly useless after a few weeks. But this doesn’t happen if you make your own fresh products at home. And it’s easier than you would think. Basically all you need is a base cream (like Eucerin or a natural cream) and the vitamins themselves. You could try picking up a container of Vitamin C powder and Vitamin E drops from your local health food store –these are great for the skin. Then you simply add in the quantity that you want, I suggest you work up slowly, and presto, you’ve got your incredible and inexpensive antioxidant beauty cream. I like to add essential oils like lavender and carrot oil myself, which also work wonders for your skin. You could also add skin faves like avocado and honey and make a masque which you would leave on the face for about 15 minutes. Talk about savings and having a top quality product that’s just designed for you! I just love it.
