Nourish Yourself With Green Smoothies

One of the hot new nutrition trends that I’ve noticed everywhere lately is making and drinking your own home-made green smoothies, essentially a blend of fruits and leafy greens that you can make at home with your high powered blender.  Leafy greens are loaded with amino acids, minerals, vitamins, fiber & chlorophyll and by blending them up and drinking on an empty stomach, your body gets the pure nutrition without having to masticate (chew) or digest it like with cooked greens, which most people don’t eat nearly enough of.

Yes, greens contain cellulose which needs to be chewed apart in order to access the nutrients which are stored within the plant’s cells and humans often struggle to chew them well enough since either our jaws are often not strong enough or we are very impatient and also lack enough stomach acid.  So to get enough greens, blending them in a smoothie is ideal.  Plus, blended greens give you 4 times the amount of nutrition compared to eating them, because the blender is able to more thoroughly break down all the cellular walls in order to release nutrients.  Any greens eaten whole are still encouraged, however they should be chewed very well!!  What I love about making green smoothies is that they taste nice in a fresh and fruity way, and I crave my smoothie in the morning.  It is generally recommended to use 40% greens and 60% fruit. But best of all, the green smoothies are great for those wanting a cleansing health boost.  For those who can’t seem to find a decent acne treatment solution, there’s a very good chance that the smoothies will help (perhaps due to the high content of vitamin A) and you may notice your appetite going down (because your body will be getting so much nutrition, it may stop craving other foods – elminate that need for diet pills!).  You may find that you feel calmer and happier (greens are great for this), and a host of many more health benefits!
